LONDON, UK: Racing Post has signed Ruby Walsh, one of the greatest jump jockeys of all time and now one of racing’s most respected pundits, as its new exclusive columnist. Walsh will be the flagship columnist for RP+, Racing Post’s relaunched premium digital membership.

A 12-time champion jump jockey in Ireland and still the most successful rider in the history of the Cheltenham Festival, Walsh is renowned as one of the sharpest minds in the sport. His weekly column (Friday online, Saturday in print) will bring rigour and candour to racing’s most contentious talking points, from riding standards and the state of jump racing to the big decisions that shape the sport’s future.

Walsh said: “I’m looking forward to giving forthright opinion on all sorts of topics and ideas and notions, and hopefully we can try and make racing a little bit better than it is.”

Walsh’s first column will land ahead of the jumps season curtain-raiser at Chepstow and will be available to Racing Post digital subscribers on Friday (09 October) before appearing in Saturday’s print edition.

While Walsh continues his broadcast and other media work, Racing Post will be the only place to read his opinion in written form.

On the signing, Tom Kerr, Editor of the Racing Post, said: “Ruby explains racing in a way nobody else can, and he’s willing to say what others won’t. That’s the promise of his column: clarity and candour from racing’s most incisive voice. Ruby carries huge weight with every part of our audience, from the most dedicated form readers and punters to casual fans, so we’re thrilled he’s writing for us.”

Racing Post members can read Ruby Walsh’s first column from Friday afternoon at racingpost.com.
